Position Details
Wage: $29.20/hour ($23.20 base + $6.00 provincial wage enhancement)
Status: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week)
Hours: Rotating shifts between 7:30am-5:30pm (occasional evenings/weekends for training)
Start Date: March 24, 2025 (tentative)
Location: Princeton Care and Learning Centre

About YMCA Child Care
YMCA BC is Canada’s largest not-for-profit child care provider, serving communities across Northern BC and the Interior including Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort St. James, Fort St. John, Hudson’s Hope, Prince George, Pouce Coupe, Tumbler Ridge, Vanderhoof, and Kamloops. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, engaging interaction with children through quality care and creative programming
- Establish positive daily communications and meaningful relationships with families
- Collaborate in planning and implementing consistent child-centered programs
- Deliver high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum based on YMCA Playing to Learn framework
- Maintain compliance with all Child Care Licensing Regulations and YMCA Child Protection Policies
- Create inclusive, supportive environments that foster children’s development
- Document children’s learning and development through observation and assessment
- Participate in regular team meetings and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- Current and valid BC Early Childhood Educator License to Practice
- Experience working with children in child care or recreational settings
- Three satisfactory professional references
- Current Emergency Child Care First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Vulnerable Sector Search
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Passion for early childhood education and child development
